About Lindsey

Lindsey Sullivan is an empowerer, writer, Emmy-winning content creator, Google doc addict, theater lover and pug enthusiast living in New York City. She was diagnosed with alopecia areata at the age of two.

She joined New York’s National Alopecia Areata Foundation support group in an effort to meet others with alopecia. It started as a way to gain inspiration for her blog and blossomed into her stepping into the role of support group leader in 2017. She has gone on to become NAAF’s support group leader for the Northeast region of the United States and a panelist at the 2022 NAAF Conference. Lindsey is also a co-founder of the Alopecia Justice League.

Writing has always been an outlet for Lindsey; she’s been writing a collection of essays entitled Very Nearly Almost since she was 17, which was the age she decided to rock her alopecia proudly and stop hiding her baldness. Rocking her hair loss has enriched Lindsey’s life in every way imaginable. As a result, she feels it’s her purpose to empower others to step into themselves as well, despite their self-image struggles (we all have ‘em!).

That’s where the podcast Very Nearly Almost comes in. While it serves as a space for Lindsey to chronicle her experience with alopecia areata as well as interview others about hair loss, she has featured a wide variety of guests. Lindsey’s nearly lifelong experience with alopecia areata has taught her that absolutely everyone has something about themselves that they’ve had to learn to love. Very Nearly Almost holds space for conversations about seeing those struggles and differences as secret super powers.

Since launching in 2021, she has featured guests like Bama Rush director Rachel Fleit, Baldie Con founder Felicia Flores and many more.
